Does there exist a form of pants or other covering for the lower half of one's body that is as durable as a pair of denim jeans, but is not actually a pair of denim jeans?

My problem: Even jeans get destroyed after two years of work. Anything less sturdy is blown in about two months - climbing up and down ladders, hauling heavy boxes, crawling around on hands and knees to get at stuff on the floor - all of that tears holes in everything I wear.
Quoted from an email I just got:

One rabbit rescue, Midwest in Michigan, is close to winning a Shelter Makeover from Zootoo.com, but they need your help this weekend! (Deadline is March 31). Just sign up with the link below and they'll get 200 points. (They're the only rabbit rescue in the running). Every vote counts.

Sign up using this link:
http://www.zootoo.com/register/referrer/midwestrabbitrr

Then scroll down the page to No. 3, post the shelter's zipcode, 48170, and pick Midwest Rabbit Rescue from the list. Once you sign up, if you have the time, you can earn the shelter even
more points by reviewing products, commenting on news, etc. Please also get your friends, relatives and fellow rabbit lovers to do the same.

The bunnies thank you!

The rescue was being deliberately flagged to kill their ranking in order to prevent any rabbit shelter from getting money for renovations.
Still Life with <strike>Rabbits</strike> Cats

So I sit down while I'm supervising Bonkers' play time at the shelter, and no sooner do I unwrap my dinner of chicken teriyaki noodles than I find that the two cats in the room, who typically want nothing to do with me, have suddenly reversed their attitude and are now sitting in my face. Needless to say, I ate dinner hunched over my lap.

Also, I've decided that I want to eventually have a combined rabbit sanctuary and vegetable/fruit garden. The bunnies should provide plenty of compost, and the vegetables will provide greens for the bunnies to eat. This would work in theory, but 1) deciding to do this when I live in one of the counties with the highest costs of living in the country is pretty stupid of me 2) even if I managed to buy the land with the money I make from a job, any job, I'd still have to work that job 40 hours a week and wouldn't have time for the bunnies or the garden.

This depresses me.

Dump post of the month:

Finally got my hands on vol. 12 and 13 of Fullmetal Alchemist! Manga Ed totally trashes anime version - I am tempted to say that the manga transcends to a higher plane of existence. Of course, then again I'm a tad bit prejudiced ... but! Seriously, some really cool characters didn't even make it into the anime - and the interpretation of Scar is hugely different. Now, I'm stuck waiting for 14. Gnnnnngh! The suspense is going to kill me!

Meh, good thing I have Hayate the Combat Butler (up to vol. 3!) and +Anima (4!) to keep me occupied. Plus, this summer should see the second volume of My Cat Loki, whose artist I got to meet at Anime Boston. (Okaie, briefly, but I don't think anybody deserves to have my fan obsessions directed at him/her personally. I can be creepy.) I'm going to ask my boss if I can expand the manga section (again, yes, I know) - seriously, the main reason it wasn't overflowing before I got to the store is nobody was reordering the stuff that sold out! And we'd do lots better sales once people realized that our store bothers to stock stuff. And the books don't fit on the shelves they're on right now anyway. So of course we need more space, right?

OH and before I forget! The author of Antique Bakery has more manga out now (in English)! There's vol. 2 of Flower of Life, and ... uh ... something else that's slipping my mind at the moment. I think the title starts with an L and the spine is tan; it's the shorter, regular size (not by DMP?) and it's probably shrink-wrapped.

There's a new Harvest Moon out! It's called "Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon" and it's for PSP. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you're actually a robot! It's cute and you can carry a tent around the island so you don't have to rush home every day! Wooohooo! I gotta find out more details, or maybe I'll just buy it. It's sad, but the things I want to know about a game tend to be things that I won't find in reviews. For example: How often can I save? How many saved games can I have? What game functions rely on hand-eye coordination and is there any way around them? For RPGs, is there a strategy guide available that includes detailed maps, battle mechanics, and enemy profiles? Are you punished if you level too much (or in HM, give too many gifts)?

See what I mean? Nobody cares about this stuff (except maybe the level too much problem, that tends to irk a great many people). Sigh. I just gotta wait for FFT.

Speaking of which, I thought I'd draw up a list of zodiac signs for FFT. Here are your allies:

Delita - Sagittarius
Rad - Capricorn
Alicia - Pisces
Lavian - Aries
Mustadio - Libra
Agrias - Cancer
Rafa - Pisces
Malak - Gemini
Beowulf - Libra
Reis - Pisces
Orlandu - Scorpio
Meliadoul - Capricorn
Cloud - Aquarius
Worker 8 - Gemini

I forgot to write down Algus because I never rely on him to do anything except soak up some damage. If you've forgotten who Rad, Lavian, and Alicia are, they're the three units who join you at the beginning of Chapter 2 (well, you have the option to add them to your party). Rad is the squire with you and Gafgarion; Lavian and Alicia are the knights who were with Agrias (which kind of makes you wonder why they stay with you rather than Agrias). They're all around level 8 with very few skills, which makes them unattractive unless you blasted through Chapter 1 at low level, but they don't cost anything to hire, their Brave/Faith stats are good, and they come with free equipment (which, if nothing else, nets you some gil).

It's kind of interesting. You get two male Libras and three female Pisces; if you keep Malak and Worker 8, that's two <strike>male</strike> Gemini. [Edit: Forgot that Worker 8 is not human and presumably genderless.] There are two Capricorns, but at least they're different genders. The reason I wanted to write up this info is so that I could plan ahead for party compatibility. I guess on the one hand, three male Libras (Mog's a Libra) and three female Pisces actually make it easier to put together a supporting party (Libras are good with Pisces, so that helps a lot) - but then again, if I get just one enemy who is able to dish out heavy damage to my Libras, I'm sunk.

I had tried a few days ago to put together a Kingdom Hearts party (Sora as a black mage, Riku as a knight, Yuffie as a thief, Cid as a lancer), but I had to stop because not only did I give Riku low Faith, he was not compatible with my healer. Since I was struggling with a bunch of just-hired level 1 units, this was basically a death knell. I didn't have the cash on hand to buy lots of potions (having spent it all on new units), and magic was not cutting it. So I decided to ensure that my next party did not have this problem. I tend to not rely on items for healing - you do get fixed amounts of HP back, you don't have to wait for the spell to charge, but you can't heal more than one person at a time.

By the way, D*y stores do not carry Kingdom Hearts merchandise. No, really. Not as in "we're sold out at the moment" or "we only get a few items and we don't have any right now" - they don't carry anything, period. Are they stupid or did Sq*x pay off the devil?

I'm sure I meant to post some other stuff too, but I can't remember.

The humans he works with respect and like him.

14. Is your character hated?
Those of his enemies that have lived to tell the tale are generally too afraid of him to hate him.

15. Is he/she emo/goth?
I don't think so. Some of his naivete has worn off.

16. Is he/she straight, bisexual, or gay?
I'm assuming he's gay.

17. Is he/she a virgin?
Yes - 400 years for a moogle is equivalent to early 20s for a human, and Mog is still in the "wanderlust" stage. Also, he's terrible at relationships.

18. Name 3 hobbies
Summoning Bahamut to chat or play games (he's lousy at chess, but likes to play).
Baking (so he can eat the yummy results).
Eradicating chocobos from the world.
Mog: That's not a hobby. That's a mission.
Okaie then, rubbing moomba tummies.

19. Is your character normal?
BWEHEHEHEHEHEHE.

20. Is your character attractive?
As a moogle, he's irresitably cute like a plushie. In his human suit, he still looks like an overly-innocent young blond male.

21. How does your character handle emotions?
He used to get upset easily, so now he's trying to be more mature and remain calm no matter the circumstances.

22. Does your character have other forms?
Only if you count the human suit as another form, and it's really not.

23. Does your character overreact?
When he sees chocobos or dangerous monsters.

24. Is your character a criminal?
No, but he was once declared a heretic.

25. Does your character go to school?
No.

26. What's his/her IQ?
High, but his common sense is a bit lacking. He learns very quickly, but applying that knowledge to the real world doesn't always work on the first try.

27. Does your character have a disease/curse?
No, that's what Esuna spells are for.

28. Is your character dead?
No, but he is mortal.

29. Does your character have a family?
He had an adoptive human family before the Lion War. He has two adoptive moogle fathers.

30. Has he/she encountered any tragic times in life?
Um, well, there was the fire that wiped out his entire village when he was a baby. Then there was the whole mess from the Fifty Year War through the Lion War. So, yes, but the past 350 years or so have been fairly quiet.

31. What's the best time in your character's life?
Strangely, probably the time of the Mog-Taurus fic. Sure, the human world is in upheaval, but he feels needed, and he's always doing something.

32. If you could name 1 friend, which would you relate to your character?
Uh. I don't really know.

33. Is your character single?
More or less.

34. Has he/she developed any relationships?
Well, there's the "I do NOT have a crush on Taurus, he's HUMAN!" thing.

35. Does she/he have an element?
I don't think so. But he is a Libra.

36. Do you role-play your character?
No, he snarks over my shoulder.

37. Do you write about your character?
Did you have to remind him? He's going to be insufferable about that now.

38. Does your character have a bad temper at times?
Oh, yes. It usually results in massive destruction.

39. Does your character get depressed?
Occasionally, but they've been evening out over time.

40. What's your characters favorite animal?
Moombas!

41. Does your character have any fears?
Packs of hydras.

42. Does your character have any weaknesses?
Well, he's not physically strong - he's a moogle, and they're basically balls of fluff.

43. Does your character look up to anyone?
Bahamut.

44. Does your character like music?
He doesn't care much one way or the other.

45. What's your character's favorite type of music?
Er ...

46. Is he/she impatient?
He's patient most of the time, but if he thinks he's being held up without good reason, he gets antsy. And cranky.

47. What's something funny about your character?
He makes moogle fur sweaters in his spare time. Oh, and although he's not colorblind, he has no fashion sense and tends to wear clashing, bright colors.

48. Name 5 nicknames
Mog
Ramza
Fluffball (Only Cid calls him that, and he always gets kicked for it)
And I suppose his enemies often call him something like, "OMIGODIMGONNADIE!"

49. Does your character curse?
Yeah, but he tries not to in polite company.

50. This test is over, what does your character have to say?
Do you have any cookies?
FFT:

First of all, major, major, super-awesome-mega thanks to joannindiw for helping me get a PS mini. It's small enough to tote around and bury under blankets to temporarily discourage rabbits from eating the wires while I scoot out of the room for a moment. The hinge for the folding LCD screen is cracked, which worries me since I do actually use it, but I guess as long as it doesn't fall to pieces within the next, say, 18 months, we're good. (I figure FFT: The Lion War will be out for the PSP by then.)

I decided to try something new this time: Play through Chapter 1 without resorting to summon magic, black magic, stealing everything in sight, or nursing Delita's levels. I dismissed the random units as usual, and hired three others, using the FF3 characters as a template. I also hired a fourth, Sara - she's a guest white mage early in FF3. At the moment, Luneth is a squire/ninja - I'm saving up to buy axes for him to throw, and in the meantime, I'm trying to actually make use of Ramza's unique squire skills (this would work better if I bothered to spend time learning them, of course). I made Refia into a monk (I always seem to turn her into a monk in FF3, even though the intro stereotypically casts her as a white mage), and I'm training her up to be a thief as well. Arc is in intensive training to become a calculator, since I do like him as a mage/scholar. Ingus is a knight, which is boring for me but great for wading through fights.

I'm also in the middle of planning a revised FF8-only party (I'll make a separate FF7 party this time, I think). So far:

Squall - time mage, possibly time mage/summoner. I want to see if I can really use time magic.
Seifer - knight/samurai. He has to be a knight, but that doesn't mean I'm going to train him as a regular, run-of-the-mill fighter.
Zell - monk. Possibly also a thief.
Irvine - chemist. Possibly also bard, or archer.
Quistis - dancer/mediator. The reasoning for this goes something like, "Well, she's a blue mage. Blue mages work well with mediators. In other FF games, mediators use whips. Say, there aren't any whips in FFT, but there are these rug things ... they sort of look like whips ... or more than other weapons ..." Uh. Yeah.
Selphie - ninja or squire. Or both. I'm still not sure, especially since her limit involves magic. Maybe she'll be the first-ever ninja/priest.
Rinoa - archer/wizard. Yes, I know, bizarre, but archer/summoner worked fine for my first Mog.
